Uncle Kit

Created by David one month ago

With my grandpa, my dad and us kids being the only surviving members of the Wain clan in Malta, our connection with Uncle Kit was even more special.  He was the only other "Wain" we knew, and his presence, even though sporadic due to the miles between us, had quite an impact on my childhood. He could certainly command attention and light up a room.

My earliest memory of him was when our family staying in England for 6 months in the early 80s. He had helped us settle down in Woodford, lent us a car (a ford Capri :)) and I still recall dinners at the Blockleys, including the dining table which would levitate from time to time while we were eating, to the amazement of us kids.

We had visited again when I was around 12 years old, we had visited again, and he promised to pick us up at the station, which he did..... draped head to toe in a white Kaftan :)

A more recent memory was a weekend we spent together on a boat with Kit, Maggie, Peter and Sarah, a weekend I'll never forget. Not only did he remain as hilarious and over-the-top as ever, but what really struck me was his deep love for Maggie, which was evident just by seeing the way he looked at her.

My heart goes out to the Blockley family at this very difficult time.

Rest in Peace Uncle Kit X
